Dr. Barrero takes time to understand the person, the smile, and the long-term goal before recommending care.
His recommendations are shaped around preserving healthy structure whenever possible.
Restorations are planned to support function while respecting the natural character of each tooth.

Clinical philosophy
For Dr. Barrero, dentistry is more than treatment plans or procedures. It is a way to protect what is healthy, restore what needs support, and help each smile feel natural in both appearance and function.
He often thinks of each tooth like a fingerprint: familiar in structure, but never exactly the same. A restoration should honor that individuality, blend with the whole mouth, and feel like it belongs there.
Treatment planning starts with a conservative mindset and respect for natural tooth structure.
Care is designed to support comfort, strength, function, and the way the smile works as a whole.
Shape, contour, and character matter when a restoration needs to feel natural in the mouth.
Recommendations consider the full smile, bite, and long-term maintenance instead of isolated fixes.
Patient experience
Care with Dr. Barrero is designed to feel clear, respectful, and thoughtfully paced. The goal is not to pressure patients into treatment, but to help them understand what matters and why.
Findings and options are explained in plain language before treatment begins.
Plans are shaped around what is necessary, what can wait, and what protects long-term health.
Esthetic decisions are made with function, proportion, and individuality in mind.
Patients have room to ask questions, understand priorities, and move forward with confidence.
Trust is built over time through consistency, respect, and thoughtful follow-through.
Personal journey
Dr. Barlan Barrero was born and raised in South Florida to Cuban immigrants, with family, perseverance, and service shaping much of his early perspective. He completed his undergraduate studies at Florida International University in Miami, then married his wife, Michele, in 2008.
In 2011, Dr. Barrero and Michele moved to the Dominican Republic so he could pursue his first dental degree at Universidad Central del Este. During that season, their family grew with the arrival of their two sons, Lucas and Maddox.
While applying for International Dental Programs, Dr. Barrero lived in Brooklyn, where he worked as a Math, Science, and Bible teacher at a Christian Academy and as a dental assistant in the Chrysler Building. He later earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2021 and continued his dental career in Charlotte.
Charlotte roots
Today, Dr. Barrero and his family are building roots in Charlotte while embracing the outdoor life North Carolina offers, especially mountain getaways and time with family, extended family, and friends.
That grounded sense of family and community carries into his work at Barrero Dental Boutique, where long-term relationships matter as much as thoughtful dentistry.
